At Stories, we understand how tough it can be to run a small business, especially when it’s focused on supporting differently-abled children and their dreams. That’s why it means so much to us when we get to tell the stories of amazing families who are making a difference.

One story that’s close to our hearts is Joyce Moi and her late daughter, Janet. Janet was an inspiration to many, and Joyce continues her legacy by mentoring young artists like Kah Wei and Yi Shen. We recently had the privilege of photographing them with their incredible moms, Yoki and Angie.

Kah Wei’s story is heartwarming—Yoki adopted him when he was just a baby and later discovered he had special needs. Determined to help him thrive, she tried out different schools before realising his true passion: drawing robots! Now, she’s his biggest cheerleader as he develops his talent.

Yi Shen’s journey, as shared by Angie, is nothing short of amazing:
“My son is autistic. At five, he couldn’t walk or talk, but I always prioritized his education. It wasn’t easy—he went through 5 kindergartens, 2 primary schools, 6 secondary schools, and 6 colleges! Despite it all, he graduated with me by his side. Today, he’s following his passion for art, works as an HR admin, and is even being recognized with the Best Artist Award 2024. As for me? I’m beyond honored to be nominated for the Women Glamour Award in the Homemaker category this year.”

We’re so inspired by these families and their stories. Here’s to Kah Wei, Yi Shen, and all the amazing people out there chasing their dreams!
